Fire Retardant for Schools, Nursing Homes, Eldercare, Day Care
and Hospitals
There are fire safety regulations that govern schools, eldercare,
daycare and hospitals in nearly every state. They provide the guidelines
that fire marshals and other safety professionals use on a daily
basis. It says what things need to be treated with fire retardants,
and it is very specific.
For hospitals and nursing homes, failing to comply with these codes
can jeapardize your Medicare and Medicaid funding. For schools and
daycares, classroom projects and holiday decorations may have to
come down. Repeated offenses could mean closure.
Fire'z Off is being used by institutions all over the country to
treat their drapes, curtains, wall hangings and other decorations,
to satisfy their local fire codes. An easy-to-use spray on fire
retardant, it is non-toxic, low odor, non-staining and Class A rated
to ASTM E84 specifications for construction materials and also NFPA
701 standards for textiles and films.
Fire'z Off can be sprayed onto fabric, wood and paper - anything
that it can absorb liquid. It is actually thinner than water, so
it does not bead up and run off like water may on some surfaces.
The treatment will stay effective until washed out, although it
may last through even 2-3 washings.
If
there is a question on whether Fire'z Off will be acceptable to
your fire marshal, just show him the product
sheet and MSDS and ask him.
We can also provide you with a small card that you can fill out
and staple to the fabric that shows the date treated, and the test
scores of the product.
The product is non-toxic with a slight salty odor that dissipates
instantly, so you can use it while people are in the room without
need of a respirator, although you may want to wear goggles because
it will sting if gets in your eyes or an open cut.
To use, just use a common pump spray bottle or a garden sprayer.
A fan nozzle usually works best. Get the item wet, and allow to
air dry. You can also dip items into the solution, and allow to
air dry.
If your fire marshal requires that treatment be done by a certified
professional, we are happy to work with your local dry cleaner,
uniform service or laundry service. We can educate them and certify
them at no cost, and give them the paperwork you will need to satisfy
your fire marshal. They usually already have the necessary equipment
to treat in bulk applications, and are usually happy to provide
another service for their commercial accounts.
